Movie Line Aggregation of the Star Wars Original Trilogy

Chapter 5: Marks can be classified according to the spatial dimensions they require. My Graph uses a one-dimensional (1D) mark as a line for stacked bar charts, with each line representing a different category (Star Wars Character). In terms of visual channels, my graph uses different colors and bar lengths to represent different movies and their respective number of movie lines. Chapter 6: Since my data only has categorical data across 3 different movies, 3d is unjustified and would just confuse the reader. 3d bar charts are usually unjustified. 2D display is justified in my graph though, since it serves as external cognition, (it’s easier to compare the length of different bars with each other, as well as sort them according to the algorithm to see ranking across different movies).
